- ::I-hope-so.::
Tila kissed Kumiko on her face, then jumped to Gavron's shoulder.
- Well, farewell then.
Gavron and Janos left, speaking on a foreign language.
- Too bad she leaves... the soldiers came to like her. - Yes, especially you. - Wha- don't be ridiculous ! Anyway, what's next Gavron ? - According to the Grand Inquisitor's letter, you and the knights will return to the east. I, on the other hand, head towards west. There are reports of strange disappearences and assassinations. The cases mostly revolve around half-demons, and on several accounts an organization called the "Brotherhood of Bastards" is mentioned. - Brotherhood of Bastards... weren't the Eternals and those weird halfbreeds from Naraku's army from the same group ? - Yes. And that's what bothers me. This is all to similar to some cases back in Europe... do you remember ? Kidnapping, brainwashing, puppeteering... - Disgusting but true. Do you think you can handle it ? - I don't think. I'll just do it. - Ha, you never change...

The goblin demons were set free; they left in peace. The knights and most of the soldiers left as well. And so did Gavron and Tila.
...
Meanwhile, in a palace far away...
- Lord, forgive my rudeness but I can't see the reason behind all of this. Why bother about that village in the first place ? Why all the sacrifices ? What was your aim with that ?
Naraku smiled, looking down on his simple half-demon scribe.
- I had this all planned out. And just as always, everything worked out well. Thanks to the noble sacrifice of our brethren, we learned much about our enemies... as well as we distracted them and took what we needed, without them noticing a thing.
There was a gigantic skull laying just next to Naraku's throne. He stood up, fondling the skull's top.
- The skull of the Demon Master will serve us well...
...
Back at the village, Sebastian was having a tea with Yuuta.
- I'm really glad I finally met a fellow scholar. Those cloud-minded folks started driving me insane...! - I can imagine, outlander. - Please, call me Sebastian. - As you wish. - So... I always wanted to ask... how do your folks think about the different races ? Humans, demons... - Well, I practically consider everyone equally worthy of life, as each race has something the others don't. Demons are powerful but usually dumb. Humans are clever but weak. I, for one, am glad that I'm a half-demon so I can enjoy each positive traits. - Oh I see. A bit racist, but overall quite liberal way of thinking. - Say, Sebastian... I've been wondering. Is this... "Gavron Alexander" a sort of deity for you ? - He ? Oh no no no, not really. He's just one among the many members of his order. But he isn't an ordinary human, that's for sure. - Why is he questing ? What is his goal ? - Uniting the human race and such. A stupid idea, at least the way he wants to carry it out. Those who live by the sword will fall by the sword, eventually. You see, my own order, the Freemasons came to realize this. We stayed in the dark and gently moved the strings, manipulating. But things didn't want to work out. I guess uniting peoples is actually impossible, even though it's a pleasant idea. People such as Gavron rise and fall every day, and the world forgets them soon. But still... - Still what ? - When I look at Gavron and see what he does, why he does it and how he does it, I can't help but feel that there is hope. - Hope for what ? - Hope that the world turns; that there will be unity; that men like Gavron don't give their life in vain; that they bring order where there is chaos... and rebuild this world into a better place.
...
Gavron made his way to the south, then suddenly stopped, shivering.
- The power of my necklace wore off... good thing that- wait; my coat ! I forgot to get it back from Kumiko !
He sighted. Tila crawled beneath his clothes. The grim inquisitor continued his journey.
